This wig is made of heat friendly synthetic fibers, which means it needs to be washed, and it needs heat applied to keep the fibers looking their best. As a bonus, heat can also be used to style your wig, so you can switch up the look whenever you like. How often should I wash it?
A good rule of thumb is every 60–80 hours of wear, and less is more when it comes to washing. Just keep your activities in mind: a wig worn during exercise will need washing more often than one worn to an indoor event.

How to wash your wig

1. Detangle first. Using a wide-tooth comb, gently work through any tangles, starting at the ends and moving up toward the roots.
2. Wash under cool running water. No matter the cap construction, cool running water is best. Avoid soaking, as it can cause tangles. Add a small amount of wig shampoo and gently massage it through the fibers and lace front to remove any makeup. Rinse thoroughly under cool running water.
3. Condition the ends. Apply a little wig conditioner from the midpoint down to the ends, avoiding the roots and knots. Rinse well under cool running water.
4. Or try a leave-in. If you prefer a leave-in conditioner, once the shampoo is rinsed out and the wig is drying, spray from the midpoint down to the ends.
5. Let it dry completely. Place the wig on a folding wig stand to allow for air flow so the inside and outside can fully dry. Finally, never comb or brush your wig while it's wet or damp—always wait until it's fully dry.

Can I style this wig?
Yes! Since this wig is made of heat friendly fibers, you can restyle it with heat—straighten it, add curls, or create soft waves whenever you want a new look. Just use a tool designed specifically for wigs and check the temperature settings so you don't exceed the maximum for your fibers. See the heat-treating tab for step-by-step instructions. If you don't want to style with heat, you can also use texturizing sprays to add definition, volume, and natural-looking texture, with no heat required.

How often should I apply heat?
How often you need to apply heat depends on the length of the wig. A pixie or chin-length style may not need heat as often as a shoulder-length or longer wig. Friction from clothing—such as coats and sweaters—or rubbing against your car's headrest will call for more frequent maintenance.

Why do I need to apply heat?
Over time, the fibers can become frizzy with regular wear. Applying heat smooths them back out, restoring that silky-smooth finish and keeping your wig looking fresh.

How to heat treat your wig
When applying heat, always use a heat tool designed specifically for wigs. Be sure to check the temperature settings so you don't exceed the maximum temperature for your wig's fibers.

1. Set up your wig. Start by placing your wig on a wig stand, in a way where you can move around the wig and have easy access to each side.
2. Start by misting. Lightly mist the wig with water or a heat protectant. Divide the fibers into small sections, and working one section at a time, mist, apply heat, and repeat until you've worked through the whole wig.
3. For straight styles, apply heat by straightening the fibers with a flat iron. For long styles where only the ends are frizzy, applying heat to the ends is sometimes sufficient—as long as the rest of the fiber already feels silky smooth.
4. For wavy and curly styles, first straighten the fibers with a flat iron, then use a curling iron to add the curls.
5. Or try steam. Another method for wavy and curly styles is to apply steam to the ends with a wig steamer. Don't comb the fibers while they're hot, as this risks straightening them. After saturating the fibers with steam, wrap the wig in a hairnet and secure it with a clip. Place the wig on a folding wig stand to allow airflow, and let it dry completely—a few hours—before removing the hairnet, combing, or styling. The heat is applied through the steam, and the hairnet prevents the moisture from weighing down the waves or curls.

Shipping within the United States

Ground shipping within the contiguous US is free for orders over $50.  For orders shipping to Hawaii, Alaska, and other areas that are not part of the contiguous US, the cost of standard shipping is $35.

Please note that your order may arrive in multiple packages, as many of our products ship from different warehouses. As soon as any item in your order ships, you will receive an email with the tracking number. If you don't see an email, please make sure to check your spam/junk folder.

Expedited Shipping

We also offer expedited shipping. You can choose between 1-day, 2-day, and 3-day shipping for most of our wigs depending on your location. If you do not see the expedited shipping option that you need, please let us know.

For expedited shipping orders, please allow for one day of processing time. For example, if you need an item to arrive by Friday, you can order with 3-day shipping on Monday, 2-day shipping on Tuesday, or 1-day shipping on Wednesday. Please see below for examples of expedited shipping times.

Expedited shipping times are subject to the UPS service guarantee. Please note that pursuant to the UPS policy, these delivery expectations are not guaranteed in the case of weather related delays. Once a package with expedited shipping has shipped, Frannie's Hair is not responsible for delays due to weather-related incidents.

For standard shipping, the time to process and ship your wig depends on if the wig is new or open box.

New Wigs

When a new wig is ordered, it generally ships within 1-2 business days. Most wigs ship with USPS Priority, but some ship with UPS Ground Advantage. If you're ordering a wig that ships with USPS but you prefer UPS, you can select this at checkout. If you have a PO Box, your wig will automatically ship with a service that delivers to PO Boxes. 

For orders shipping to PO Boxes: Most Raquel Welch, Eva Gabor, Toni Brattin, Hairdo, and Him wigs ship directly from the manufacturer. Unfortunately, they are unable to ship via USPS, so orders shipping to PO Boxes will first ship to our warehouse, and will then ship out to you. Please expect an additional 3-5 business days in this case.

Additionally, please note that Ellen Wille wigs can take an additional 10-14 days to ship. If this is the case for your order, it will be stated on the product page, and you will receive a notification via email.

Open Box Wigs and Haircare

Open Box Wigs and Haircare have the fastest processing and shipping times. Orders placed by 3pm EST on a weekday usually ship the same day, and otherwise ship the next business day. 

Signature-Required Deliveries

Please note that high-value shipments (shipments with 5 or more items or over $1500) may require a signature upon delivery.

International Orders

For international orders, the shipping, taxes, and duties can be seen at checkout before completing your order. The costs that you see at checkout are the total costs that will be incurred for your purchase. There will be no additional fees or bills for customs, taxes, duties etc after you complete your purchase.

We ship internationally with UPS and DHL, but the specific services available depend on your location.

International orders take 3-7 days to arrive at our international shipping warehouse prior to shipping out to you. As soon as your package is on its way to you, you will receive an email with tracking information. If you don't see an email, please make sure to check your spam/junk folder.
